Burgate requests the grace of the king concerning land and tenements that the Templars held from his ancestors and from him as they held them for a service that if it fell into arrears gave his ancestors and him the right to re-enter the same after a year which he did before the lands of the Templars were forfeit, but Morley and others came and disseised him by which he brought an assize of novel disseisin but the justices would not proceed because it concerned the lands of the Templars.

The petition is dated to c. 1308-c. 1312 as Edward II began to move against the Templars in 1308, and Clement V finally dissolved the order in April 1312 so the petition is likely to date to this period or shortly after, though disputes concerning Templar lands were to continue into Edward III's reign.
