The petition is dated to 1318 as it seems to be contemporary with the surrounding petitions in this file, and is certainly after 1314 as clear reference is made to the battle of Bannockburn. The name of the petitioner and his brother appear amongst a list of petitioners to the parliament of October 1318 (E 175/1/22).
