Addressees
King.
Places mentioned

Nature of request
[Petition in four parts:] 1) Weston requests that the treasurer be commanded to make payment to acquit his horses and armour against his expenses since coming from the castle of Berwick as he has served the king in Flanders, in all his Scottish wars and now in Berwick Castle and has pledged his armour and horses at Newcastle for £10, being the cost of his horses since the beginning of the siege of the castle. 2) Weston requests that the treasurer is ordered to make an assignment in a certain manner so that he is able to be paid for the debt owed to him for his wages and those of his companions and for the loss of his horses since he has nothing to sustain him and his companions without the king's aid, he having lost his Scottish lands and all his movables, and he requests this so that he can continue to serve the king. 3) He requests maintenance for him and his companions to continue to serve him, and ordain how and where they should stay. 4) He requests the grant of an office where he can continue to serve him honourably, such as the bailiwick of Holderness..
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege et consilio.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1318 as it is clearly in the aftermath of the fall of Berwick, Weston presumably looking for new office after the fall of Berwick Castle. It is possible that this petition is part of the group of petitions that formed an original file at the end of file 318 and in this file dating to 1318-1319.
