Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/319/E365
Date
[c. 1310-c. 1324]
Description
Petitioners
Robert de Esslyngton (Eslington).
Name(s)
de Esslyngton (Eslington), Robert
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Scotland.
Nature of request
Esslyngton requests that the king ordain by his council how he is able to be sustained according to his estate as he is so destroyed by the Scottish war that he has nothing to sustain him, his wife or children.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege et magno consilio.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1310-c. 1324 as this petition was clearly presented in response to the growing depredations due to the Scottish war. The petitioner is seemingly a Northumbrian, and the northern counties bore the brunt of the Scottish raids. It seems likely from the dating of many of the other petitions in this file that this petition dates to c. 1318 and may be part of an original file that began at the end of file 318.
