SC 8/318/E350
Date
[1318-1319]
Description
Petitioners
Roger de Nonaunt; John de Denham; William de Ferrers; John Prouston; and other good people of Devon.
Name(s)
de Nonaunt; de Denham; de Ferrers; Prouston, Roger; John; William; John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The petitioners state that at the last parliament held at York, they presented bills against the tin-miners of Devon for various trespasses and crimes committed against them, and Hugh de Courtenay, William Martin, John de Stonor and William de Bourne were appointed to hear and determine these trespasses. They have done nothing, and the petitioners ask for a writ to them to proceed to hear and determine them, and to do justice.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Places mentioned
Devon
York.
People mentioned
Hugh de Courtenay
William Martin
John de Stonore (Stonor)
William de Bourne.
Note
The petition is dated to 1318-1319 because this petition appears to be part of an original file of that date (see the dating of SC 8/318/E340). SC 8/108/5364 is datable to 1318, and would appear to be the petition to the York parliament mentioned in this petition. This petition must have been presented shortly afterwards, probably to the next parliament, that of May 1319.
