Parker requests remedy and for certain people to be assigned to hear and determine his complaint against Chigwell as Parker brought a suit against Balduch for a debt but Chigwell attached Balduch to answer the king with the distress taken for Parker's debt without making satisfaction to Parker and without answer being made in court by form of law. Parker states that he and his family are totally ruined, and he is of no power whereas Chigwell is rich and of great power.

The petition is dated to 1318-1319 because this petition appears to be part of an original file of that date (see the dating of SC 8/318/E340). The two former sheriffs of London, Garton and Chigwell, served from Michaelmas 1313 to Michaelmas 1314, and from Michaelmas 1314 to Michaelmas 1315 respectively (List of Sheriffs, p.201).
