Nature of request
1) The people of the land request that the cyrographers and clerk of the bench be commanded that they do not take excessive sums for the making of fines, the amount being ordained in the time of the king's father; they make a similar request concerning the criers.2) The people of the cities and boroughs state that they were granted liberties by charters of kings that they can have removal of pleas touching their liberties out of the Bench, and they request that it be commanded that they can have transcripts of original writs and the record of each plea under the seal of the chief justice as they used to have in the time of John de Mettingham.

The petition is dated to 1307-c. 1320 as the petition seems to be of a similar date as those in the file around it, but is clearly in the reign of Edward II, making reference to 'King Edward father of our lord the king'..
