[c. 1300]
Description
Petitioners
William Servat; John Redolee (Rodele).
Name(s)
Servat; Redolee (Rodele), William; John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Servat and Redolee, late of the company of Cad[urci], request remedy that they be granted a fieri facias without delay concerning the sum that the king has allowed to the abbot of Pipewell and the other part of the sum whereof they do not have acquittance of the merchants as the abbot acknowledged himself obliged to the petitioners in the sum but the matter was taken into the king's hand because of the war with the king of France, and the abbot has answered their scire facias that he should not answer them because they are not of the king's allegiance.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Places mentioned
Pipewell, [Northamptonshire].
People mentioned
Abbot of Pipewell.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1300 as the petition clearly relates to arbitrated dispute of 1291, but as the petition seems to be during a time of continental warfare, a date of c. 1300 seems more appropriate. In addition the hand looks later than 1291 (CCR 1288-96, pp.192-5).
