Prior and brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem in England.

Nature of request
The prior and brothers request that the sheriff and certain justices be assigned to enquire upon the matter of their claim to have the chattels of any of their felonious or fugitive tenants. The prior and brothers seized the chattels of Mawe, their tenant at Horncastle, and a fugitive for the death of Pestour, he having been indicted before the sheriff and coroners of Lincolnshire as was found by an inquisition, but Donne procured another inquisition which found contrary to this and caused the chattels to be claimed by the bailiffs of the bishop of Carlisle, lord of the vill of Horncastle, so that neither the king or the prior are served.
