Nature of request
The burgesses request remedy as they were accustomed to come to parliament with other burgesses which is to the advantage of the king in the granting of tallages and other taxes, but the sheriff of Hertfordshire who is of the fee and robes of the abbot of St Albans has neglected to summons the burgesses to the damage of the king, and this because . . . wished to accroach to him the advantages of such grants.
