Date
[1307-1315]
Description
Petitioners
John de Reymerston.
Name(s)
de Reymerston, John
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Reymerston requests that he be granted the same sustenance as the king's father granted him. He lost his feet and chattels in the king's service by tempest of the sea and was granted sustenance of a religious house which was found void for which a bill was delivered to the then chancellor to make a writ for him.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Places mentioned
Carlisle, [Cumberland].
People mentioned
Piers de Maulay
Robert de Maulay
John de Weston
John de Kirkeby (Kirkby)
William de Hamelton (Hamilton), chancellor.
Note
The petition is clearly in the reign of Edward II referring to grants to the petitioner by the king's father to the petitioner at the last parliament at Carlisle. Clearly if this refers to the last parliament then this would place the petition in 1307 after the death of Edward I, but if it means the last parliament held at Carlisle specifically then it would not help narrow the dating of the petition. It would be imagined that the petition would be earlier in the reign of Edward II so that a date range of 1307-1315 seems a reasonable assessment.
