Nature of request
Seint Oswald requests that it be granted that he be delivered from gaol and restored to the keeping of the hospital of Newton in Holderness which he was granted by commission for the term of his life for his long service to the king's father, this he asks for his great age. He was ousted from the keeping by the allegation made to the king by Morewode when the king passed that area, alleging that Seint Oswald had made defaults against the king, and he was imprisoned and remains there though he is prepared to answer anyone.
