[? c. 1310]

Amedeo V, Count of Savoy.
Name(s)
V, Count of Savoy, Amedeo
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The count requests that Vacca be maintained in his possession of the church of Witney which was granted to him at the count's request, and which the bishop of Winchester disturbs.
Nature of endorsement
[On face].De par le conte de Savoie.[On dorse, none].
Places mentioned
Witney, [Oxfordshire]
Chambeirm (Chambery), [Savoy, France].
People mentioned
William [Vacca of] Chambery
Bishop of Winchester.
Note
The petition dates to? c. 1310 as a faculty was made at the request of the petitioner which may represent the presentation of the William Vacca. Unfortunately, the presentation would have been following the resignation of Vacca's uncle, another William Vacca of Chambery, so it is possible that the petition was made somewhat earlier in favour of Vacca's uncle. The petition cannot be later than 1316 as the king presented Thomas de Teffonte to the church in the late voidance of the bishopric of Winchester on 16 March 1317, the voidance ending with the consecration of the new bishop in October 1318 [CPR 1313-17, p.628].
