Description
Petitioners
Robert le Creuker (Crevequer).
Name(s)
Creuker (Crevequer), Robert
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Creuker requests that the king will restore him to the rent that he granted him with the damages that he received, or that he give him his inheritance. The king gave the manors of Soham and Ditton in exchange for Maelor Saesneg, and afterwards for the manors gave £80 of rent, namely £20 at Oxford, £20 at Hereford, £40 from the mills of the bridge and of the fishery of Chester, and £5 for the keeping of the castle of Beeston for all his life, but afterwards by grants to the king's son of the county of Chester, and to the queen he has lost the rents from Chester and Hereford, and despite earlier requests nothing has been done.
Nature of endorsement
The king wishes that the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer consider the charters and agreements which the petitioner had of the king, and the treasurer and barons assign in the king's name to the petitioner lands and rents in compensation of those lands which the king assigned to the petitioner and which the king afterwards gave to the prince of Wales and the queen. And of the arrears owed to the petitioner from that time, satisfaction should be made to the petitioner in the debts or arrears of any bailiffs etc. where they consider it to be best done, and of the arrears and debts thus paid to the petitioner allowance is to be made to the bailiffs.
