Nature of request
The abbot requests remedy as he was granted the manor of Slaughter with the hundred of Salmonsbury by King Henry in exchange for Winchelsea and Rye, and the vill of Lower Swell answered the hundred in all things until the earl of Cornwall purchased it and by his power withdrew it from that hundred and purchased view and other liberties and made the vill answerable to the king's hundred of Kiftsgate where it remains in prejudice of the abbot.
