Nature of request
The people complain of the great damage and destruction done to them by sheriffs who have indicted at their tourn in the hundreds people who they have ill will to or from whom they covet their lands and chattels, and they have them imprisoned and extort money from them for delivery. They complain in particular of the sheriff of Shropshire.
Nature of endorsement
It is attested before the council by the barons of the Exchequer that the sheriff is elected from all the county, and if they feel themselves injured they should come to the Exchequer and justice will be done to them.
