Nature of request
The abbot and convent request that the king will give his grace until he is able to more fully ordain on the matter of the arrears of the money from the county of Chester from the time of Reginald de Grey so that they can keep the building works of the king's church there from peril and damage. Grey has paid part of the arrears but a great sum still remains in arrears.
Nature of endorsement
The treasurer and barons of the Exchequer are to examine the account of Reginald and make allowance to the abbot, and for this they should call the abbot and certify the king.
