Nature of request
The abbot requests remedy as his proctor pays each year to the king £80 10s through the hand of the sheriff of Sussex but the sheriff levies the tenth penny from all the goods of the abbot, and although the abbot purchased a writ of the Exchequer that he ought to make allowance, the sheriff does not wish to make allowance, and pays only half of the tenth taken.
