Nature of request
The free tenants request remedy so that they are not disinherited as their ancestors were at all time free of tallages or recognizances made in times of vacancy in the bishopric of Ely, but a previous keeper of the bishopric entered in his account that he had received a certain sum from them and they have been distrained to pay the sum in subsequent vacancies.

[None].[The petition is answered on the dorse of SC 8/314/E150 in the following manner:They should sue to the Exchequer for these three petitions, and let the rolls and memoranda of the Exchequer be scrutinised for the times of vacancy of the bishopric of the aids that are paid and from which vills and hundreds. And the king should be certified of this in the next parliament at Westminster at Michaelmas.]
