Nature of request
Richard de Boyland owed the king over £400, for which his lands were seized in the King's hand. After his death John de Boylund paid £140 and instalments of £40 a year until the debt was paid, during which time a tenement was recovered from Boylund by a writ of mort d'ancestor with damages of £46, for which all his chattels and the moiety of his lands were taken, whereby he could not pay his instalments. Boylund requests that the king return all his chattels and lands as if he had kept to the terms of his instalments.1)
Nature of endorsement
He is to go to the exchequer before the morrow of All Souls and the extent is to be examined and, if it is found that he holds by the extent, then the terms are to be mitigated in respect of the value of the land lost; and in the meanwhile execution of the judgment in respect of the damages adjudged is to be suspended by writ of Chancery.2) This petition is to be duplicated and one is to remain in the exchequer and the other in Chancery where it was sent to Adam de Osgodby
