Nature of request
Halton requests that the matter of the king's grant of the barony of Dalston to his church of Carlisle and the bishops of the same place be examined as it was made in allowance of a sum taken from the king's purse, as at the making of the perambulation of the barony certain acres of moor were excluded because of contention between the bishop and the steward of the forest of Inglewood.
Nature of endorsement
Because the predecessors of the bishop held this by the gift of the king in allowance of the 5s. as is contained in the petition, the bishop should be contented by the same gift.
