Description
Petitioners
Albrei de Clayton.
Name(s)
de Clayton, Albrei
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Clayton requests the king's mercy as she has nothing on which to live as she holds a third of the bailiwick of Pirehill in dower, and she has been ousted when it was taken into the king's hand when Griffin lost a plea of quo warranto, though she was not summoned or attached concerning her third of the bailiwick. She has brought one petition but the treasurer has not acted on the command concerning it.
Nature of endorsement
She should sue before the present treasurer and let it be heard.
Places mentioned
Pirehill, Staffordshire.
People mentioned
John de Berewik (Berewick)

John de Metingham (Mettingham), justice of the Bench.
Note
The petition dates to c. 1293 as the plea of quo warranto referred to in the petition was held shortly after Epiphany in 21 Edw. I (Placita Quo Warranto, p.709).
