The prior and convent request that the king will discharge them of the charges wrongfully imposed on the house by the actions of Ralph de Broughton who entered the house on the death of the prior's predecessor and wasted its goods.
Nature of endorsement
To the Exchequer, and Ralph should be called there and they should and consider the matter and what was done at the time of other vacancies and according to this they should charge etc.

The petition is dated to c. 1297 as a reference in the close rolls may relate to this petition, and clearly refers back to problems during the last voidance of the priory as does the petition (CCR 1296-1302, p.120).
