Nature of request
The merchants of England request that the second article agreed between the Kings of France and England in 1303 (that the people and merchants of one realm could freely travel to and from the other) be kept in times to come. They also request a full repeal of all letters made to the contrary.1)
Nature of endorsement
For the people of the King of England.2) If such letters are to the prejudice of the subjects as the petitioners say, they should be ready to show this by commission or in other sufficient ways, and they request that similar letters and commissions be made by the King of France with all the amendments that can be ordained by his wise council to bring an agreement between the two parties.
