Nature of request
Hasche requests the keeping and marriage of an unknown child until that child comes of age and that an inquisition be held to determine whether or not the land is held of the King in chief or not, and that Mautravers, St Martin and Gilbert be the justices assigned. St Leger claims that the land is held of him in chief and not of the King, as was found by an earlier inquisition procured by Nonsuch, to whom the same keeping and marriage had come.

The petition probably dates to c. 1288, since at this time Hacche was regularly granted lands and marriages of the heirs of his tenants (cf. CFR 1272-1307, pp. 248-9 and p. 266).
