Nature of request
Fray requests that the Duke command the treasurer and searchers of Calais to deliver to him the merchandises from a ship of Zeeland which was driven to Calais where it and all its goods were arrested. Berwick, Chambre and Arderne loaded a ship of Zeeland with wool and other merchandises at Edinburgh last July. The ship, bound for Middleburgh, was captured at sea by men of the Duchess of Holland and the merchandises taken to Winchelsea and Sandwich, and upon his clients' petition to the King and council the customers of Winchelsea and Sandwich were ordered to deliver the same to them without custom, whereupon the merchants loaded the merchandises onto two ships to send to Middleburgh. One ship went to Zeeland but the other was driven to Calais.
