Nature of request
Lodyngton and Pudsey request letters patent with clause of warranty to have and hold the manor of Morton, its rent of 10 marks yearly and all its arrears since the death of Despenser. Despenser gave the manor and other lands to Talbot, Weston, Street, Thorp and Pinchbeck for 10 marks yearly. After his death the wardship of Thomas, his son and heir, and the keeping of all his lands were seised into the Edward III's hands. In the 1st year of the present King's reign [1399-1400] Thomas, with others, traitorously rode against the King for which he was adjudged a traitor at the Parliament held in the 2nd year of the King's reign [1401] and the said rent and arrears (since the rent had not been paid since Despenser's death) came into the King's hands by his forfeiture.1)

On 26 November in the 8th year [1406] it was agreed by the council that Lodyngton and Pudesay should have letters patent as requested.2) Lodyngton; Pudesay.
