Nature of request
Loncastr' requests the keeping of the county of Westmorland during the minority of John, son and heir of Thomas Clifford, who held the office of sheriff of Westmorland on the day of his death, and that he be granted letters patent thereon.
Nature of endorsement
On 5 November in the 34th year [1455] in the Star Chamber at Westminster the King, with the advice of his council, granted that Lancaster should be sheriff of Westmorland at the King's pleasure and that he should have letters patent under the great seal thereon.
