Ada, widow of Nicholas de Neketon, requests remedy against Hirst, against whom she brought a writ on the quinzaine of Easter last concerning tenements worth 5 marks yearly before Howard, who ordered Ada and Hirst to appear before the justices of the bench on the octave of St John to hear their judgment, on which day, at Hirst's procurement, the record and process were delayed and postponed until the octave of Martinmas, when he falsely claimed that he was in the King's service to delay the matter, and now he has sent to his friends in the King's service in Scotland to have a letter witnessing that he was in the King's service so that he can have the King's protection.
