The prior of Norwich requests remedy against Cheyne who on Sunday in the 2nd week of Lent in the 43rd year [1369], with others of his faction, entered with force and arms the prior's manor of Gnatyngton, given to the priory by Herbert, late bishop of Norwich and confirmed by the King and his progenitors, disseised the prior, and took his livestock and crops, driving the beasts to Snettisham two miles away and riding the horses to London, Windsor and elsewhere (and although the prior had delivery of most of his livestock by the King's writ, a great number of them died shortly afterwards as a result of their ill treatment), and Cheyne occupied the manor for 6 weeks, to the prior's total damage of £133 15s. 8d., and Cheyne has now falsely complained to the King about grievances done to him by the petitioner when he has done no wrong.

The petition probably dates to c. 1370 when an order was granted, upon the petition of Cheyne and others, to stay exigents against them at the prior of Norwich's suit concerning his recovery of the manor of Gnatyngton (CCR 1369-74, pp. 174-5).
