Nature of request
Joan, widow of Waterfall requests remedy against Swetenham to whom (along with Newark, Frisby and Ryall who are now deceased) she enfeoffed her lands and tenements in le Sponne on condition that he would re-enfeoff her upon her request, and to whom at Coventry on Monday after the Purification in the 3rd year of Henry IV [1402] she delivered a chest of charters, deeds and other muniments touching her inheritance on condition that he would return them to her upon her request, but who now refuses to do these things. She also requests that Swetenham be made to come before the chancellor in Chancery bringing the chest and its contents for examination.
