Nature of request
Joan, whose husband is in Berwick in the King's service, requests that whereas his tenements in London were seized into the King's hand for Chiriton's debts, that a writ be directed to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that if they find no mention in the recently returned extent of the repaid rents that then they should cause the tenements to be discharged from the said rents, and that she be granted a day to find pledges for holding the said lands and tenements.

The petition dates to c. 1356, when it was ordered that money be delivered to John de Northburgh, mainpernor of Chiriton and his fellow farmers of the customs and subsidies in all ports, while his lands are in the King's hand, seized because of Chiriton's and his companions' debts to the King (CCR 1354-60, p. 291).
