Description

Nicola de Rous, widow of Alan de Rous.

de Rous, Nicola
Addressees
Chancellor.
Nature of request
Nicola, widow of Alan de Rous requests justice. Judgment was passed for her on the eve of St John [before] Seyton and Lovetot, for which Littlebury was to make her a writ of seisin, and he told her he would bring it to her on Saturday but then said that he had lost the writ, so she appeared before Seyton and told him that the writ by which she should have seisin of her dower was lost and requested her dower. Then Littlebury came with a writ that her things had been seised into the King's hand at the quinzaine of Michaelmas, and she took her writ and went to the sheriff of Oxford who answered that she had been betrayed because her dower had been seized into the King's hand, after which she went to Windsor and complained before Kirkby and requested a writ to speed her business and when she had this writ sent it to Holland at the Bench, who asked Littlebury why he did not make a writ of seisin of her dower and he answered because he could not find any pledges in his writ.
