Nature of request
Hode and Turball request that whereas at the sessions of the peace held at Hereford before Russell, de la Mare and their associates the petitioners and others were sworn to enquire into all felonies and other matters, in which they indicted Croft of having killed Lyngeyn, because of which verdict the petitioners are threatened of life and limb by Croft, Parker, the three Wallewens and others so that they dare not leave Leominster, which men and their friends have often attacked and tried to kill them, that the King send for the said men and for the keepers of the peace so that the latter can be examined concerning this matter, and the petitioners can have sufficient surety of the peace from the said men.
