Date
[c. 1388]
Description
Petitioners
John Dureham (Durham); Joan Dureham (Durham), wife of John Durham.
Name(s)
Dureham (Durham); Dureham (Durham), John; Joan
Addressees
Chancellor.
Nature of request
The Durehams request that it be granted that they can proceed in their suit of novel disseisin against Idonia Brembre and others for a tenement in Harrow as the suit was stopped because the escheator of Middlesex had taken the land into the king's hand on the forfeiture of Nicholas Brembre, but it has since been found that he only held this jointly with his wife and the escheator has been ordered to deliver the tenement to Idonia.
Nature of endorsement
[None].
Places mentioned
Harrow on the Hill, [Middlesex].
People mentioned
Idonia [Brembre], widow of Nicholas Brembre
Nicholas Brembre
William [Courtenay], Archbishop of Canterbury.
Note
The petitioner is dated to c. 1388 as it would seem that it closely follows the order to remove the king's hand from lands, including those in Harrow, and deliver them to Idonia Brembre, the petition seeming to refer to this order (CCR 1385-9, p.580).
