The master requests that he be granted a writ of Scire facias to Clifford to warn him to come into Chancery to say if he knows anything why the writ granted to him for him to be given possession of the hospital should not be repealed, and also grant a writ to the sheriff of Leicestershire to surcease in his execution of that writ.[The petition records in detail the process for the election of the master and the descent of the office from the time of King John].

The petition is dated to c. 1364-c. 1383 based on the known date range of the petitioner as master. As the individual complained of by the petitioner -Richard Clifford, was the petitioner's successor as master, it would perhaps seem likely that the petition dates to the latter end of this period (The Victoria History of the Counties of England: A History of the County of Leicestershire, vol. II (1954), pp.36-9).
