SC 8/301/15039
Date
[? 1404]
Description

None.
Addressees
Chancellor.
Nature of request
[The petition is damaged and the full sense is unclear].Request that it is commanded that the letters patent of escape of John . . . felon who lately escaped out of the keeping of the sheriff of Gloucester to have to the use of the king be granted.
Nature of endorsement
[On face:]This bill was granted and sent to be executed.[On dorse, none].
People mentioned
John . . .
sheriff of Gloucester.
Note
The petition is dated to? 1404 on the basis of the notes on the guard of this petition which are based on an entry in the patent rolls (CPR 1401-5, p.389). However, the relationship between this entry and the petition seems suspect as reference is made to the escape of a prisoner from the custody of the sheriff of Gloucester, and this seems to have no relation to the patent roll entry.
