Hugh de Faryngton (Farrington), clerk.
Name(s)
de Faryngton (Farrington), Hugh
Addressees
Archbishop of York, Chancellor of England.
Occupation
clerk
Nature of request
Faryngton requests that he might be granted the church of Radwinter which is wrongfully occupied, and that the presentation of the same church might be granted to William Christendome until Faryngton can recover the church in right of the king.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
Radwinter, [Essex].
People mentioned
[Thomas Arundel], Archbishop of York, Chancellor of England
William Christendome (Christendom).
Note
Ratification of the petitioner's estate was granted on 7 July 1378 (CPR 1377-81, p.256). However, the naming of the Archbishop of York as Chancellor dates the petition to rather later: Thomas Arundel was Chancellor between 24 October 1386 and 4 May 1389 and between 27 September 1391 and 15 November 1396, and was Archbishop of York between 1388 (papal provision 3 April) and 25 September 1396, when he became Archbishop of Canterbury. This petition would therefore seem to date from 1388-1389 or from 1391-1396.
