Nature of request
The merchants named above state that they freighted John Yonge's ship in London with certain wools on 28 September in the King's fourteenth year, and had their cocket to sail to Calais, but that when they reached Sandwich, the ship was broken up by a storm, and their wool carried to land. They request a writ to the customs officers at Sandwich to deliver the wool to them and to give them permission to load it into another ship and take it directly to Calais, by virtue of the said cocket.This petition also contains a list of the amount of wool belonging to each merchant, and a letter from the customs officers of London attesting to the truth of what the merchants say.
