Nature of request
Eleanor, widow of Thomas Driffeld, states that her husband died in the service of the Duke of Lancaster on his last expedition, and that all his goods and chattels were taken into the King's hands for the a certain demand made on him in the Exchequer, and valued at £26 4s 4d. The King has pardoned Eleanor this sum, so that she can support herself and her four children, as can be seen by the letters she has under the signet.
