Nature of request
Laurence de St Martin states that he has been given a commission to array men at arms in Wiltshire and to bring them to the coast in case of need, but that he is distrained for his lands and tenements in the Isle of Wight to remain there in person. He requests a writ to the keepers of the Isle to discharge him from this personal residence, provided that he finds sufficient men at arms and archers for the quantity of his lands there, considering that his esquires and other people are at sea on this expedition.

A writ is to be issued to discharge the petitioner in the manner requested here for the time that his commission lasts, provided always that he finds sufficient men at arms and archers as written here, and as he is obliged to do for the share of his tenements.
