Nature of request
Perynanton de Blay states that on the last day of August in the King's twenty-first year he was coming from Portugal to London with wheat when he encountered a barge of Sandwich, whose master was Peter Shipman, in the sea twelve leagues from land, and delivered to him some wax, cordwain and tanned hides to take to Bordeaux. This barge was afterwards driven into Plymouth by a storm, and Ralph Gonyly, customs officer there, took the cocket from Peter for this merchandise, wrongly and with force and arms, and seized the merchandise and still holds it, wrongly and for his own profit, contrary to law and statute, in contempt of the King and to the petitioner's harm. He asks that his merchandise might be restored to him, together with his costs and damages.

[None][On face of SC 8/299/14633] Be it remembered that on 12 March in the King's twenty-second year, this bill was delivered to the King's council at the New Temple in London by the hands of Perynanton de Blay to be put into execution.
