Nature of request
Record of an inquisition held at Royston before Matthew de Bassingburn, Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, on the Tuesday after the feast of St Augustine, 2 Edward III, finding that Richard de Welleford and Geoffrey de Weston, merchants of London, were robbed on the King's highway at Potterescrouch between Arrington and Caxton, and that although their servants raised the hue and cry after that robbery, the people of those parts did not attempt to attach the malefactors, but allowed them to escape.

Inquisition held on the Tuesday after the feast of St Augustine, 2 Edward III (31 May 1328).Matthew de Bassingburn was Sheriff of Cambridgeshire between 24 April 1327 and 11 August 1328 (List of Sheriffs). 'Potterescrouch' is probably either a local name for part of Ermine Street, or a junction on that street, possibly with a Potter's or Porter's Way, common road names in this area.
