Nature of request
Writ from Edward to Geoffrey le Scrope and his companions, justices, instructing them to do justice, according to the tenor of the Statute of Winchester, in the matter of Richard de Welleford and Geoffrey de Weston, merchants of London, in their case against the people of Longstow hundred, whom they accuse of allowing the malefactors who robbed them at a place named Potterscruch on the King's highway between Arrington and Caxton to escape.

Writ dated 31 October 2 Edward III (1328). 'Potterscruch' is probably either a local name for part of Ermine Street, or a junction on that street, possibly with a Potter's or Porter's Way, common road names in this area.
