Description
Petitioners
Andrew de Bures, knight.
Name(s)
de Bures, Andrew
Addressees
Chancellor.
Nature of request
Andrew de Bures states that William Criketot, on the day he died, that is 28 May in the King's twenty-eighth year [1354], held half the manor of Ixworth of the King in chief, by the service of a third of a knight's fee, and that it was valued by the escheator at 51s 8d. Because of this half-manor, the King has siezed the wardship of William, William's ten-year-old son and heir, and all the rest of the inheritance is held for term of life by Joan, William's mother, who is 25. The value of the half-manor is not sufficient to support the child according to his estate, so that his kin have to do this. Andrew asks that he might have the wardship of the half-manor, together with the marriage of the heir, and so on from heir to heir until one comes of age.
Nature of endorsement
The bill was passed to the Chancellor by the Treasurer to make a commission on it.
