Nature of request
Richard Basset, executor of the testament of Joan, widow of Roger de Weston, states that John received 20 marks annually for term of her life from the manors of Kirkby Malzeard and Thirsk, of the gift of John de Moubray, father of the late John de Moubray, and that these manors have come into the King's hand through the death of John's wife, Elizabeth. The escheator is refusing to pay 10 marks of rent, which are in arrears for the term of Martinmas last, without the Chancellor's command, as Joan lived until 18 January. He requests a writ to the escheator to pay him this sum.
