Nature of request
John Moriz states that he has long been escheator of Ireland, and that he has needed to employ sub-escheators and farmers under him in this office, and that these sub-escheators and farmers now owe him money. He requests a writ to the Treasurer and Barons of the Dublin Exchequer to summon the debtors to acknowledge their debts, and that the King might receive the money from them, or discharge John where appropriate.

John Moriz was escheator of Ireland between 2 March 1329 and 10 August 1336, according to Sayles, Affairs p.167. As this petition says that he has been escheator for a long time, it seems likely to date from around 1336.
