Nature of request
The Abbot of Pipewell states that he owes the King £28 19s. 9d. for the arrears of the account rendered before the Barons of the Exchequer for the goods of the merchants of Cahors that were in his keeping when war broke out between the late King and the King of France, and that he is being distrained by the Sheriff of Northamptonshire for this debt. He requests a writ to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to allow this against the money the King owes him for wool taken by Gilbert de Cestreton for the King's use.
