Nature of request
Richard Waukeleyn states that he was enfeoffed of the manor of Eye Hall with its appurtenances in Horningsea by John Howard and Joan his wife, for himself and his heirs, in the third year of the present King's reign, and that it was seized into the King's hand by the bailiffs of the Bishop of Ely's franchise for certain accusations made against John Howard in Norfolk. He requests a writ to John de Cantebrigge, Constantine de Mortumer and Robert Walkefare, or to two of them, to inquire into this and to inform the court of the manor of the enfeoffment.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have a commission to inquire, in the presence of the King's keeper of the said manor, if the said Richard was seised by virtue of the said gift, and for how long, and into all other articles touching this business; and the inquisition is to be returned.

The writ for CIM 1307-49 no.1187 is dated 20 August 5 Edward III (1331), and is addressed to John de Cantebrigge, Constantine de Mortumer and Robert Walkefare: this would therefore seem to be the inquisition requested by the petition.
