Nature of request
Adam de Slyngesbi states that four years ago he took all the fisheries of the Abbot and convent of Jedburgh in the River Tweed, for a term of five years, and that they are now seized into the King's hand. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
They say that the aforesaid abbot and convent granted the aforesaid Adam the aforesaid fishery by their deed [shown here] in court paying 100 s. and 80 salmon as the petition claims, and that four years have elapsed of that term and that one year remains, and that Adam was in Berwick at the time of the surrender and that he did not remit etc.He is to have a writ to the Sheriff of Berwick to deliver the fishery to the aforesaid Adam, if for that reason etc., to hold until the end of the aforesaid term, so that he pays the aforesaid rent to the King during the term, saving everyone's rights.

Note
Dated to c. 1334 (after the siege of Berwick of 1333) by the similarity of the content to that of SC 8/296/14791, SC 8/142/7064, SC 8/142/7073. and SC 8/142/7076. The hand, in particular, is very similar to that of SC 8/296/14791. The provisions concerning Berwick-upon-Tweed made at the beginning of March, 1334 (Rot. Scot., vol. I, pp.264-270) may also be relevant.
